Cloisonné

This centuries old technique of decorating metal and enamel objects has continued to dazzle in the present. The cloisonné style creates small compartments with gold or silver edges surrounding tiny scenes.

Dating as far back to the Byzantine Empire the motif was primarily present in jewelery, religious images and weapons. It slowly evolved from geometric design based images to lifelike designs portraying societal scenes. Now the look can currently be found in decorative vessels such as bowls, dishes and vases at your nearest Mecox!
