Mary Burke: New Watercolors

"Orange Petals" Watercolor
Each original floral work is created with watercolor, pencil and ink on Arches acid-free paper. The images are presented in rag mats, under UV protected glass, encased in metal frames which have a contemporary, thin front exposure at the edge.
Each floral is a semi-abstract work revealing the fragile intricacies of flowers, petals and stems. Linear variations set the stage for blossoms, imaginary or reality-based. "Some amazing forms have evolved in nature as plants and animals seek to ensure their survival, and flowers are among the most beautiful. I enjoy contriving some of my own forms within the confines of that lovely flowery world." Painter Mary Burke divides her time between Chicago and her studio in Southwest Michigan. Her works are represented in collections across the United States, Italy and South America and have appeared in numerous publications.
