Just the Right Amount of Daring...

Mecox is thrilled to have Jeffrey Bilhuber's delectable new read, The Way Home, gracing our bookshelves and tabletops. Elegant as always, his beautiful rooms are most striking because of their unexpected pairing of balance with daring. In each perfectly appointed room, every one of them so well-scaled, is an element of surprise. There is a sudden confetti-like burst of unsual colors, or a bold nude in a traditional hall, or a playful constellation of paper lanterns hanging from a ceiling.

Most striking, is the way Bilhuber dares to show his rooms in their natural, lived-in states! The rain gear tossed carelessly in a foyer, a bed being made, a couple of boys atop their living room encampment of throws and pillows. While these rooms may be museum quality, they are not stark, untouchable museum exhibits. Each room lives and breathes, reminding us that houses, like books, are full of stories.
