The Dragon Motif
Here at Mecox we are in contact with a variety of different styles of furniture from different cultures around the world, each with its own unique motifs and symbols. One such symbol that we often see is the Chinese dragon. It appears on lamps, garden stools, and other furniture and accessory items. It is believed that the mythical creature came into being as an evolution of early stylized representations of natural creatures.

The dragons are most often portrayed as serpentine, scaled creatures with long bodies and four legs. They have come to symbolize power, strength, and good luck. Dragons represent the "yang" in the concept of Yin and Yang (Phoenix are the "yin").

The qualities of power and balance attributed to dragons are the same qualities that can make a room successful. Also, having a good luck charm around never hurt anyone. Confucius would most certainly approve.
